About Us
Box-Arch Co. is a project I started off the back of my work as an automotive artist (@mdawsonart / www.mdawsonart.com). It’s grown out of a long-standing obsession with cars, motorsport, and the need for another creative outlet. What began as an extension of my illustration work quickly became something broader - a space where I can explore ideas more freely, without the constraints of client briefs and commissions.
At its core, Box-Arch Co. is about making things that feel true to that passion. It brings together the influences I’ve always come back to—automotive culture, graphic design, and strong, purposeful visuals. Not everyone has space for a large fine art print, but a t-shirt is something you can wear every day and appreciate.
The brand name comes from a very specific kind of car design - wide arches, aggressive stance, and an unapologetic presence, seen in some of the most iconic race and rally cars (think works Integrale Evos, Group 5 BMWs, Lancia Beta Montecarlo, 6R4, 935…). There’s a directness to those machines; everything has a purpose, but there’s also a definite beauty in how raw and functional they are.
Through prints, clothing, and whatever else I decide to experiment with, the aim is always the same: to capture a bit of that feeling. Not just how good those cars look, but the attitude behind them—something mechanical, slightly raw, and very intentional.
Ultimately, Box-Arch Co. is open-ended. It’s a space for me to test ideas, be creative and make cool designs that I’d want to wear myself. Hopefully some you will feel the same and join me on the journey!
Cheers!
